Rafting Vorderrhein half-day trip

The Ruinaulta, the gorge of the Upper Rhine, leads below Flims from Ilanz to Reichenau/Bonaduz. In 1000s of years, the river created a landscape of spectacular beauty: white cliffs and green wetlands line the shores of the river with its splashy rapids. The Vorderrhein, sometimes called the “Swiss Grand Canyon”, offers easy to intermediate white water, suitable for (nearly) everybody from 10 years on – ideally suited for families, groups, companies and school groups.Our half-day trip rafting on the Vorderrhein is one of our most popular trips – in around two hours (total trip duration approx 3.5-4 hrs) you will experience the entire Rhine gorge from Ilanz to Reichenau. After a comprehensive safety briefing you are ready to get onto the river: bouncy rapids alternate with quiet sections – ideal for drifting and enjoying…  If you have more time, you might also want to consider the full-day trip option: You will raft the same river section, however, about mid-way we will stop for a substantial BBQ on the side of the river, right in the heart of the gorge.For a description of the trip including many tipps please check the blog post of the “test family” of Swiss Family Fun (in English) or from the Famiglia Esplora Mondo (in Italian).

Trip procedure:

We meet you at the train station of Ilanz. After a short walk our guides will welcome you to our rafting base. Here you will receive information about the trip and change into rafting equipment. Afterwards you will get a detailed safety talk as well as paddle instructions at our put in – then you are ready to go!

Your rafting trip will lead you through the impressive Rhine Gorge. Steep chalk walls and high rock towers loom on both sides of the river; in between some fun rapids. Our trip ends in Reichenau, just above the confluence of the Vorder- and the Hinterrhein. Your dry clothes as well as a Happy Landing Apéro await you at our take out.
